The body runs the ATP Tour, where the best players in the world compete every week for the biggest prizes in the sport. The Tour was established in September 1972, and it celebrated its fiftieth anniversary throughout the 2022 season, cementing its place as the undisputed leading tennis tour in the world.
The Tour itself is split into various categories – the Grand Slam, ATP Finals, ATP Tour Masters 1,000, ATP Tour 500, ATP Tour 250, and the ATP Challenger Tour.
Tennis fans and tennis bettors can bet on all of the biggest tennis tournaments at our online sportsbook, from individual matches to futures bets on the Grand Slam events.

What is Wimbledon?
The Wimbledon Championships are the UK’s entry to the Grand Slam and the oldest tennis tournament in the world. That age makes it possibly the most prestigious event on the tennis calendar, and it is the only Grand Slam tournament that is played on grass. All of this makes it the quintessential summer tennis tournament.
It is held in South West London every summer at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, and is the third Grand Slam of the calendar year. It’s become the de facto home of world tennis, alongside Roland Garros, which hosts the French Open. Winners of Wimbledon are largely seen as the pinnacle of the sport.
The tournament is made up of several different events, including:
History of Wimbledon
Wimbledon was founded in 1877 as a tennis and croquet tournament, and there have been 137 editions between then and 2024, inclusive. The first winner of a group of players who all had to pay a guinea to enter was Spencer Gore, a player who would never reclaim his title.
It has been held every year since its first edition, with only major world events like World Wars and global pandemics bringing a pause to play in the world’s oldest tennis competition. Before those interruptions, 1882 saw croquet dropped from the schedule, meaning it became a tennis-only tournament for the first time, and 1968 saw it turn professional.
Since then, Wimbledon has seen several dynasties emerge, with it not now unusual to see a small number of players dominate the tournament year after year. Retired Swiss player Roger Federer has the most singles titles with 8, but current competitor Novak Djokovic is just behind with 7.
ATP Wimbledon Previous Winners
There have been 22 men to win Wimbledon since it became an Open event in 1968. That includes some of the biggest names, including Djokovic, Andy Murray, and the current hot prospect Carlos Alcaraz. The last 10 winners of the tournament are as follows:
2024 Carlos Alcaraz
2023 Carlos Alcaraz
2022 Novak Djokovic
2021 Novak Djokovic
2019 Novak Djokovic
2018 Novak Djokovic
2017 Roger Federer
2016 Andy Murray
2015 Novak Djokovic
2014 Novak Djokovic
It’s clear that Alcaraz and Djokovic will be firm favourites in 2025. However, they will be facing tough competition from players like Jannik Sinner, Italy’s bright talent, who will be looking for his first Wimbledon title after falling to Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 French Open final. Other names like Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz will be looking to cause upsets and make their names in the tournament.
Format & Schedule of the 2025 Men's Wimbledon

How to Bet on Tennis & Tennis Bet Types
Once you’ve decided to bet on Wimbledon, there are some key bet types you should look out for:
Moneyline (Head-to-Head): A moneyline bet in tennis is a straight-up head-to-head bet on a tennis match where you pick the winning player.
Outright (Tennis Futures): In an outright tennis bet or the futures betting market, you typically pick the winner of an entire tournament, such as Wimbledon or the French Open. Read our outright sports betting guide for more information on outright winner odds.
Correct score: A correct score bet in tennis is a bet on the final score in a set or the entire match.
Handicap: Handicap betting is popular in tennis, as it allows you to back the favourite with a handicap attached, offering better odds should they win.
Over/Under (Game Totals): Rather than picking a winner, you can place an over/under totals tennis bet on the total number of games played in a match.
Double Result: A double result bet allows you to bet on two possible outcomes at the same tennis event.
X Set Winner: You can also bet on which player you think will win the first, second, and third sets in a tennis match.
X Set Total Games: This is a wager on the total number of games that you think will be played in a specific set.
1st Set Correct Score: A bet on what you think the score will be at the end of the first set.
Exact Sets: A wager on the exact number of sets that you think will be played in a tennis match.
